Electrical Testing
All electrical installations whether domestic or non-domestic, should be subject to a regular programme of testing and inspection to ensure that they remain safe to use.
We are approved to carry out these inspections and issue certificates.
A Periodic Inspection Report (PIR) will reveal if electrical circuits are overloaded, find potential hazards in the installation, identify defective DIY work, highlight any lack of earthing or bonding and carry out tests on the fixed wiring of the installation. The report will establish the overall condition of all the electrics and state whether it is satisfactory for continued use, and will detail any work that might need to be done.
A Visual Condition Report (VCR) is less comprehensive but can be an effective way of monitoring the condition of an electrical installation, especially in let properties where alterations are often made without the Landlord’s consent and tend to be of a poor standard. This will flag issues such as damaged sockets, faulty light fittings and switches, missing blank covers on circuit boards and overloading of circuits.
